I loved playing Breakdown for the Xbox. Yes, I said for the original Xbox. From the moment it booted up I knew it was going to be a game I didn't want to put down.

I beat that game many times over, and there were no achievements to speak of at the time. It was just that fun and unique. It was an FPS with an emphasis on hand-to-hand fighting. You could punch, kick, block and even dodge roll. The whole screen moved in first person the entire time, even during said roll. If you got punched the screen would blur and you would have to try and reposition yourself while waiting for it to clear.

You got super powers and weird things happened as you were going through the story. At one point you see your muscles and then your bones. I enjoyed just punching the air to see my skeleton arms flying about. Seriously, you could spend a lot of time just enjoying all the odd things that you encounter.

At a certain point I got to the end of the game and found myself wishing that there was more. There was, so much more. I was only about halfway through and I suddenly realized that this game was not what I thought it was.

The saddest part of this game is the very fact that it never got big enough to bring a sequel to life. It was certainly one of the best games that people didn't play. I have multiple copies because I would loan one out to friends and would still be able to play it. If you ever encounter it out in the wild, I highly recommend picking it up and doing yourself the favor of playing it.
